2015 KCON LA
KCON is an annual Korean wave convention held in different locations across the world.
I designed 2015 KCON in Japan and 2015 KCON in Los Angeles.
The majority of my work is under NDA.

Imagine 2 hours show with static sets. How do you feel?
As a stage designer, I always pursued a living, breathing visual sets to deliver memorable experiences for both artists and audiences. Thankfully, by using Cyber Hoist technology, it was possible to design moving sets. As you can see above, 4 divided sets moved according to 17 K-pop groups’ performance. We pre-planned the each section’s movements and synced with projector team to create the epic experience.
Today I revisited my previous work that around stage design "2015 KCON in Los Angeles" in VR. I converted 3D modeling to VR space through IrisVR. I was astonished by how immersive the experience felt. In particular, the fact that I can check 1:1 scale with various perspective was amazing. I can visualize the entire space in VR. Now does this mean we don't need to build physical mock-up in the future? After drafting & 3D modeling, I used to make a physical mock-up in the different scales to check the performers' and audiences' views and for the purpose of efficiency sharing my vision. Maybe we still need a mock-up to play around physical objects to check materials and movements. But for the scale, VR definitely makes it easy to share the sense of scalability.
